How To Improve Security with an iPod Touch… National Security, that is.

The Firearm Blog posted photos and information about an iPod touch using a M110 rifle mounting system that attaches to a side mounted picatinny rail.  It was designed by a weapons peripherals company called Knight’s Armament. [pull]The M110 is the 7.62×51mm semi-auto sniper rifle which won the Army’s competition to replace the aging M24 bolt action sniper rifle.[/pull] Why, you ask? The iPod is running a ballistics calculator (available in the App Store for $12).

It is your standard ballistics application, an external ballistics calculator for the iPod Touch / iPhone named Bullet Flight. You can set firearm / ammunition profiles, then call up the saved profile and enter your environment information, for example, distance, wind direction, elevation and temperature.

Over all its an interesting mix of Tech and utility.
