Wandering around I was glad to see that the Linux Screw has a pretty complete list of Windows Software equivalents for Linux.  I’ve used Ubuntu Linux for the past year and a half and still find times I boot back into Windows.  Some cases in looking back I can understand as I still haven’t heard of the Adobe CS(2,3) Suite being able to be installed and running under linux.  So between that and a customer who gives me Microsoft Publisher files… I normally don’t have to switch OSes.

I scrolled down looking at the suggestions and found some very good suggestions… and some really half baked programs.  One of the biggest issues I’ve run across is the not wanting to have any legal issues. But sometimes it just isn’t the same without the interface that just woks.

So if you are debating a switch, or have done a switch on a part time basis… I suggest looking over the list, and remember that in Ubuntu you can add many of these programs using Add/Remove.
