Eye On You: Google Streetview Camera Car Fleet Set to Invade America
A camera-toting tipster saw what appeared to be a giant armada of Chevy Cobalt cars in the Google parking lot, getting ready to take pictures of the entire world (or thereabouts) with special 360° cameras. The tipster says he followed a Google camera van as it cruised back to its Mountain View, California lair yesterday after that van finished a session of picture taking for Google’s Streetview navigation site, and exactly what did he see there?

What he saw was a ton of Chevy Cobalt Blue Cobalts… Or as one commenter called it, the Chevy Cobalt Car Patrol. A lot of fairly fuel economical Affordable cars to head out. But still, you’ve got to wonder what the game plan was in taking all the shots. Finish San Francisco? How long will that take? Just aim for major street in major cities? Or do they have other fleets elsewhere that they are going to swarm the Bay Area with.

There is a similar lot near here, but they are Chevy Malibu’s with government tags. Of course they don’t have the camera stalks attached, as they are for FEMA. Off topic yes, but the picture reminded me of it. Feh.
