One thing that I’ve seen lately that I’ve really liked was the number of big players that have stood up and started up blogs… and also the great number who have turned to WordPress.  Well I was sorta of impressed with the fact that Flickr switched their blog over to WordPress… but that was an understandable thing, because as developers they probably love being able to get into the code.

That said the gamer side of me was actually surprised that Sony’s Playstation Division started up a blog (cool point being its running on WordPress).  Its a more visible presence then a Forum, and allows them to have more flexibility in posting… (I liked a few of the posts they have done so far).  But another nice thing was that they used their trackbacks to track who was talking about them, and in the belows case… thanked them.  (I purposely broke the links, but feel free to read on and get the links).

I was going to continue to chime in on the comments thread but it occurred to me that most of you would miss this as there were more than 500 comments on that first post, so allow me to simply extend an official thanks to everyone here and outside this blog who have taken the time to share their feedback and support for this effort over the last 24 hours. This is going to be a great and wild ride.

Kotaku, VH1, LevelUp, Joystiq, Destructoid, and 1Up, we appreciate the link love, guys. Likewise, GameCovered, TrueGameHeadz, GamingBits, and Opposable Thumbs, we heard you too and we’ll try to address some of your questions (and expectations) over the next few weeks. And please, Andrew, we read your stuff religiously; the last thing we want to do is to compete with your blog. We even got an official welcome from our industry-friend the Major, which we appreciate.

I’m hoping that this might be a sign of them wising us a little.  And getting a good guy (or group of writers) to act as the voice for Sony will lead to some more interest and perhaps lead to a little more open feeling.  As a side… if you bothered to click the link above, it allows them to do so astro-tufing… and some “Mythbusting” without having to do News Releases.
