Thanks ImageshackAn all-in-one plastic wine bottle and cup has been produced by Australia’s Hardy Wine Company, the country’s largest wine producer.
The “Shuttle” bottle, which holds one glass of wine, has a detachable plastic container at the top.

“It’s portable (and) it means you only need to buy one product to enjoy a glass of wine,” Miriam Leenders, Hardy Wine Company Global Marketing Manager, told Reuters.

She said the product would be perfect for outdoor events where glass was not permitted for safety reasons.

The “Shuttle” is set for distribution in Australia in 2007 and will have a test run in Britain from March 2007.

OK I hate to admit but i like the idea. I just don’t think it’d sell well with Napa Valley Wines. After all these wineries are the same ones that are poo-pooing the plastic cork even though they are shown to be better in a lot of ways. But truthfully they probably won’t look too closely at the Shuttle for the same reason as they turned away from the plastic cork (for the most part). The consumer expects a “fine” wine to be a specific way. And even though plastic corks are said to seal wine bottles better, and have no chance of creating a “corked” bottle of wine. The consumer sees it as a cheap bottle of wine if used. So most Napa Valley wineries stay away from it. Now the “Shuttle” may hit the same stumbling block. But it may overcome it and I can see Sutter Home with it’s huge market of single serving bottles being an interested party. But other then that? Not unless people see them in a positive light.
