Meebo is starting to be used by many and bands are starting to see it as a good tool to get in touch with their fans. With more and more bands switching to it, and with it being used for interviews, I see Meebo’s use is skyrocketing.
Recently, we’ve seen some really cool bands on Amie Street, Myspace and other music sites start putting meebo me on their profiles. Los Angeles rock band Mudvayne uses meebo me to chat with their buddies on Myspace who number over three hundred thousand! If you have a favorite band, send them a message and suggest embedding a widget to connect with fans online.
Yesterday we found out that tomorrow night (Thursday) at 5pm PST (8pm EST), superstar hip-hop producer Gary Gunn will be chatting with Amie Street members live at the Amie Street homepage on meebo me. Cool! Gunn has worked with artists like Dr. Dre, Knocturnal, Nas, and M.O.P, and most notably, Dr. Dre’s “Bad Intentions” on the soundtrack for “The Wash”. If you have some time, be sure to check it out!

It’s pretty cool that Meebo is getting popular. But with the populairity I worry about it’s ability to expand. I’ve gotten complaints that the page load is dragged down by it. They always add “not excessively…” but it does make me stop a second and debate removing it.
With all this use I wonder when they’ll roll out support for creating rooms. I think it’d be great to have a room either based on page or by whole site available, that’d rock. Or even ability to make your own customer ones. Then again I think Meebo is using Jabber for the protocol of IT’s client, and i wonder if Jabber even supports rooms.
