The Koenigsegg CCX posted a new lap record on the UK Motor Program Top Gear yesterday (the 28th of may). The CCX, driven by the infamous Stig, achieved a lap time of 1.17.6, slashing the previous lap record of 1.18.4.“This is a very prestigious record which was watched by approximately 250 million TV viewers” stated Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO for Koenigsegg Automotive AB.
The Top Gear program has previously tested all competitors to the Koenigsegg, which make the record even more spectacular.
“We have once more demonstrated to the world that Koenigsegg stands for absolute performance” says Christian.

I love Top Gear as I’ve written or mentioned them many times. And their time trials are particularly interesting. Since they’ve raced supercars and just joe blow sports cars. Every time they’ve done it there was a surprise whether it was the relatively affordable Ariel Atom making the top 5 (number 2 if I remember) fastest car…. until now. This is one cool car, and of course out of my price range. But for those with the pocket change it’s defiantly nice looking, and now shown to be THE speed demon to beat. The Top Gear clip is below.
