On April 26th, 1986, Chernobyl’s Reactor No. 4 unleashes a thoroughly modern plague that emptied cities, condemned entires regions, and seeped invisibly into the bodies of those exposed to it’s destructive presence.
Photographer Paul Fusco faces the dark legacy of Chernobyl, focusing of the horrifying human consequences of the event that is now 20 years in the past. Fusco’s work forces us to remember an important nighmare that we would forget at the peril of our morality and out future.
There are numerous pictures out there of the damage done at Cherobyl. Racer Girl took haunting photos of an abandoned city. But these photos and audio commentary are griping and the fact that it’s been 20 years just hits you.
