Now I’ve heard of similar in cases where you had an old key and you needed to make a quick copy, so you used another old key as the blank. In fact I remember a long time ago finding the difference between two keys at a company was a single notch. So notch made a friend was able to have a key to anywhere.
I found this interesting since I had a fancy smancy Oakland A’s printed key made this weekend for $2 at Orchard supply… and thought it reasonable to have to have it professionally done. But hey if short on money, and really needed an copy, this si sone w3ay to go. He went it pretty good detail and explains the dangers.
