Well this last weekend was a bust, on working on the cabinet. But I was able to do some more work and got the “final” bezel designed. I also printed out and finalized the Console. I had planned to drill it out (the plywood template/test) but first was running around and then a graduation party Saturday and then Father’s Day took a bit of time Sunday. So the list stands.

Designing the Console took a lot more thought then I thought. I originally thought I’d be able to come up with a few ideas that I’d have to drill and try. But instead it was squeeze in; not that’s not going to fit… maybe this way no too tight… there is no way that would be comfortable… ok let’s use this one, style designing. The main issues where the depth of the controllers and the spacing betewen items. But finally I saved out a preview of the console… passed it around and got the thumbs up. So I took it to work and printed it out.

As for the Bezel, that was the hardest work. As the post last week showed, I had a space theme in mind. The problem being it felt too busy. So after culling through the artwork, and seeing what has been done (well that’s posted on the internet) I ended up with 2 ideas. So far I’ve only gotten the Space idea done, but I found a great supply of old school arcade graphics in vector format and I’d hate for that to go to waste, so I may have 2 sets of art for the cabinet.

Edit: I worked a bit on a Marquee… it’s not all that hot, I’m actually hoping to see Shawn online soon to see if he had a chance to get started on a Marquee for me.

Here is also an old school MAME Marquee I’m debating using.
