I never meant this website to be focused only on one browser but today I’ve noticed something. In Internet Explorer the site is broken. If you view source, you’ll see there is a lot there. But it stops at the edge of a video in display. At issue is the fact that recently Microsoft lost an lawsuit detailing how they could handle embedded objects. Well all my plugins, and all script that the video sharing sites provide, use the embed method to do the Movie/Flash Movie.

What does this means for you? Until I can get updated plugins (it’s not a simple deal to fix) You may arrive to the site and go hunh? Or What I really would suggest is that you click the link at the bottom right corner (or if you are in IE, and don’t see it then the link at the bottom then click the link at the bottom of the post.

Download Firefox with Google Toolbar

Either this or the bottom link will work, but I really suggest you try it. You’ll understand soon why so many are switching

IE 7 does it a little better at least, I have many problems with my site in IE6

  2. Bill says:

I really didn’t see a difference in the site from explorer to this. But it does show everything now.

What exactly is the reason this happened?

  3. Well the main issue with ie recently is that Microsoft was sued about they way they deal with embedded content in a webpage. Now this deals with the popular plug-ins like Flash, Quicktime and Java. But it also deals with a ton of other developers work. They announced a couple months ago that this would need to be done. And if you didn’t forget it. The problem is, most people still have their sites using the old (previously cross browser compatible) code and either don’t realize what the problem is, or in a few cases probbaly how to fix it.
I’ve tested this site in ie. 5 and 6 with no issues; planned to test it in 7 but was going to wait for a Release Candidate rather then chase bugs they’ll be fixing themselves.
Note the embedding issue only deals with Internet Explorer… not Firefox, Mozilla Browser, Opera or any of the other web browsers out there.
