I ran acrossed this article titled High Performance WordPress on Asymptomatic. noting different ideas in which you can use caching to reduce the strain on your site, and survive a huge influx of traffic from a site such as Digg, Reddit, Slashdot, BoingBoing or Fark.
The main options (in which he goes indepth about) are using WP-Cache2 Plugin, APC (a php cacher) and even adjustments in Apache if you have access.
If I start getting errors (and/or reports of issues) I’ll start implimenting them. The one issue meantioned, not enough memory, I can’t do anything about, but I’ll trust that Dreamhost has it set up correctly. I haven’t heard of any issues.
