NASA Studying the Reuse of Spacecraft Software
Engineers at NASA’s Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) facility are examining the feasibility of reusing portions of old NASA spacecraft systems software for new missions. One of the goals of the effort is to determine whether using that old software would actually save the agency time and money.

You would think that with all this off the shelf, reuse and getting the most bang for your buck, that NASA would be in the news more.  With more missions, more cool info.  But it seems lately all you are hearing is who know when they’ll be in space again… under their own power.  They’ve gone with Russians a few times and I’m waiting for them to go hat in hand to China.
