So far I’ve been liking Google Calendar, but there has been a few issues.

  • Sharing calendars.  So far it seems the only sucecessful sharing has been from one Google Calendar user to another.  GCal to iCal has so far been just a nice idea.
  • Gmail integration – It’s talked a lot about, and others have used it.  But I’ve yet to see it.  And I can’t get it to work.  So the jury is still out about it.
  • Verizon not a SMS accepted subscriber service.  SO I can’t get reminders via SMS, notr can anyone in my family… let alone work. this doesn’t make full sense since Verizon is one of the biggest providers, and they also proveide an email address backend that’s easy to use.
  • ics files don’t always work with iCal.  right now it’s 50/50 for blank .ics files.  (event files you can use to manually add events to calndar software)
  • The sharing with a person but not the public interface is a little confsing.  I have one calendar that I think I’m just sharing with my friends and family, but may also be shared with the public.

All in all it isn’t bad and considering it’s only be available for less then 24 hours the issues really are minor.  But they are annoying.  Especially since it feels like I’m one of the only ones with some of these issues.
